Split Decision

"I'll Just Do It Tomorrow." Procrastination is a commonly known struggle that nearly everyone faces at some point in their academic career. As a college student, finally free of the parental leash, procrastination may become more frequent. I personally find myself falling victim to the phrase "I'll Just Do It Tomorrow." It is a blessing of a phrase right up until there is no tomorrow. Throughout the five blog posts I will not only share my own personal struggles with procrastination, but uncover the mystery of where it comes from, what types there are, as well as some tips on how to quell the bad habits. This blog would relate to nearly all people, young and old, and will be written in a way that will hopefully inform the audience about their procrastination as well as how to improve. I will most likely adapt my blog to focus more on procrastination in college and ways to improve in a college setting. However, the topics covered could still apply to anyone working in a job or on a project.

Another possible topic for my passion blog would focus on Apple. I would compare Apple's new iPhone Edition (this is most likely name for the big phone releasing September 12th) to another new smartphone. The blogs would consider features and come to conclusions about which phone was subjectively better. The title for this blog would be "Apple vs. The World." Over the five blog posts I would start with Apple's biggest competitors, such as Samsung's Galaxy Note 8, and then work my way down the food chain to less known, yet equally innovative, smartphones such as the Essential Phone. The blog will be adapted to my audience by keeping in mind the prices of the smartphones. Smartphone prices are skyrocketing, especially in this coming fall. Since my audience will mostly be college students, a $1000 phone might not be the best fit even with the incredible features.

  1. The procrastination blog would be the more relatable, and the more useful, of the two. A lot of college students could use advice on how to avoid procrastination, and dispensing this advice, combined with an analysis of why we procrastinate, would make for an engaging blog.

  2. These are both highly interesting topics that can have many possibilities for fresh and interesting blog posts. However, I feel like it could become quite difficult to keep up a blog based upon procrastination so if I had to make a personal recommendation, I'd personally say the phone comparison blog would be the best choice. I've always enjoyed information pertaining to technological comparisons.

  3. Somehow I find the apple blog more intriguing. Would like to know more about that, perhaps could use your ideas as arguments against my anti-apple friends.

  4. Oooh, you're getting split responses and feedback! While a product review of Apple phones could be useful, fellow students may not be in a position to try these products. That being said, we're *all* in a position to procrastinate, and you might be able to incorporate great humor and relevance with this theme.

Go with your gut! I trust you'll make a great decision.

  5. These are both super interesting topics and I can see myself immersed in either. However, I'd definitely love to read the Apple blog because in a world where technology is so prevalent and Apple seems to dominate I don't think many people have given much thought or look into other companies and other smartphones. I think myself and many others would enjoy learning about what else is out there.

  6. You have very different ideas for your topics. I think that you may have more content for the Apple Blog and might find it easier to write, but I as a reader would definitely be more interested in reading about your procrastination blog. Since I know you, the blog would feel more personal and fun, rather than a comparison blog that are awfully easy to find on several other blogs. Over the course of time, I think many would consider buying the iPhone 8 etc. products, so I'm sure the blog would be highly relevant too; but personally the first blog wins more of my attention.
    Good Luck :)
